Wildlife SOS – Our volunteer  project

We spend 3 full days at wildlife SOS, you will make a major contribution to the welfare of sloth bears and elephants in India. While we’re there and all the work we do is a part of their daily routine. The majority of staff at the facility stay away from their families and chose to be a part of the cause just for their love for animals. A part of our tour cost also contributes directly to the center, thus providing a critical source of funding for future work. We will work with the local community and the inspiring people who run these projects, making it an opportunity of a lifetime!

No previous experience is required, but you will need to be willing and enthusiastic. You will have the unique opportunity to work alongside some incredible animals and gain the satisfaction that comes from helping to make a positive impact on so many lives.

As a volunteer, you will spend 3 days with the bears and elephants at the Agra facility. Wildlife SOS has 2 centers in Agra, one for the sloth bears and the other for the elephants. Also, they’ve now added India’s only Elephant hospital where we also give a visit.

So, the first day at the center will consist of an orientation session and a full tour of both facilities. The orientation will provide a thorough overview of how the center operates and will educate attendees on the basics of animal welfare and environmental principles. You will be trained and supervised by the experienced animal keepers at the center as well as the education officers. For your safety and the safety of the animals, please note that direct physical contact is not a part of the volunteer experience.

Delhi in Brief:-
Delhi, the capital of India offers an experience, and it is hard to define in words. Delhi is the political hub of India and has a combination of everything. From Majestic Mughal architecture to modern marvels, it has all. Our tour will start with a ride to Tuk-Tuk and travel to Old Delhi.

We will head towards Asia’s biggest spice market” called Khari Baoli in old Delhi. Indian food and cuisines are known for their spices, and we all enjoy the taste of spices, don’t we? We visit a rooftop from where you get a complete view of Old Delhi and the places we have travelled. On the way back, you can buy some Indian spices to take back with you.

After lunch, we get to our tuk-tuks and go to Humayun’s tomb in eastern Delhi. This beautiful monument was built in the mid-1600 century. The catch is Emperor Humayun was the Great-Grandfather to Shah Jahan (the emperor who built the Taj Mahal in his wife’s memory) & Humayun’s tomb was built on the orders of Humayun’s wife in his memory after his death, Some history lessons for you?

We also volunteer at the temple’s community kitchen and help them make some bread! They serve food to everyone without a cost, and it’s called ‘langar’. The temple is all about loyalty, devotedness & culture.

The moment has arrived as we finally see the masterpiece of architecture - the Taj Mahal. Every year more than 20 million visitors come to see the Taj Mahal from across the globe. Mughal emperor Shan Jahan builds this fort in memory of Mumtaz (4th wife of Shah Jahan). We will explore this fort at the time of sunrise when it looks 100 times more beautiful.
You’ll have plenty of time to explore this wonderful monument. We will also have a local tour guide for all the questions you have, and of course, you have us to capture your moments. 😊😊
After visiting the Taj Mahal, we move ahead towards Agra Fort. A huge fort was built during the reign of Emperor Akbar in the mid-16th century. Emperor Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son for eight years in this fort! Two-thirds of this fort is now under the Indian Army.

We have a free evening so you could recollect all those moments from the tour. Rest well, we have a long day tomorrow!

We will be their volunteers at the NGO to help the staff in their day-to-day routine. Like making wooden platforms or hammocks for the bears, cleaning their dens, food preparation for the elephants and much more.
We take all the safety measures, and the staff at the NGO will always be with you and guide us while we do our part.
